This is a controlled freezing of tumor tissue to mechanically disrupt it and kill it by bursting the cell walls. The surgeon inserts a probe in the tumor and freezes the tissue to minus 186 Celcius. This surgery is useful for small tumors and as nephron-sparing surgery.
