Adjuvant treatments are protective treatments typically administered to patients who previously had cancer, but where all visible cancer was successfully removed.

Given that in some patients microscopic cancer cells may still be present in the body, these patients are considered at high risk of relapse, where the cancer can return at some point in the future.

Where available, adjuvant treatments may be utilised the decrease the risk of future relapse.
